 Common Roots Youth Organizer Program

PODER and the Chinese Progressive Association created the Common Roots Youth Organizer Program for low-income Chinese and Latino youth. Through Common Roots, youth leaders develop cross cultural solidarity, learn critical thinking skills, enhance their leadership and organizing skills, and make significant contributions to organizing campaigns.  Together, we prepare new leaders for movements for environmental and economic justice and immigrant rights.  Read more.

 

Gang Injunction Education and Youth Services

Following the launch of the City Attorney’s gang injunction plan in which Latino youth were indiscriminately targeted and labeled as gang members, PODER youth members started the Gang Injunction Education and Services Program.   Read more.

 

Funding Our Communities to Create Unity and Strength (FOCUS)

Funding Our Communities to Create Unity and Strength (FOCUS) was a collaborative effort to advocate for the adoption of eleven community and geographic indicators to ensure that the Department of Public Health continues to allocate tobacco control and prevention funding in those communities that need it most, primarily low income communities of color in southeastern San Francisco.   Read More.
