The Housing Action Team is agroup of community members who have come together with a shared vision of equity, well-being, and grassroots leadership. The Housing Action Team’s mission is to engage authentically with our neighborhoods, collectively refining and defining the places we call home. Through people-powered planning solutions, we are fighting to have better neighborhoods, with the same neighbor and everyone has access to affordable and safe housing.
This member space, is building a dedicated community that drives PODER’s PUEBLOTE mission forward. Through our monthly multilingual meetings, community members and allies gather to participate in skill-building activities and collective decision-making processes. United, this leaderful group of everyday people is directing housing justice initiatives and campaigns, holding developers and city agencies accountable for equitable development.
- We are committed to creating more affordable housing options for low-income residents, regardless of their documentation status. We believe that all low-income families in District 11 should have equal access to quality, safe, and healthy rental and ownership housing.
- We aim to expand tenant protections for renters in District 11. By advocating for stronger safeguards, we empower individuals and families to maintain stable housing and prevent displacement, fostering a sense of community continuity.
- We champion for community stewardship over land, promoting the creation of more affordable housing, locally owned businesses, and community-controlled institutions. By acquiring land for community needs, we pave the way for a more inclusive and sustainable future.
