Beyond my love for cycling, my heart has been steadfastly anchored to the environment and its people. This profound connection inspired me to join PODER, championing to make the beautiful symphony of bird songs, the soothing whispers of the wind, and the vibrancy of blossoms accessible to everyone. My journey with PODER has been marked with projects like “Bicis!” and “Herbalism for the People,” initiatives aiming to weave our communities closer to nature’s embrace. A cherished memory from this journey is witnessing the pure elation of the Excelsior kids as they navigated our Sunday Streets obstacle course on their bikes.
Over the years, my bonds have grown stronger with Hummingbird Farm and Bicis del Pueblo. I had the honor of leading a workshop at the Solidarity to Solutions gathering in SF, melding my community mental health expertise with our shared vision for grassroots activism. These experiences remind me of our community’s resilience and the importance of our collective action.
Every pedal stroke, every uphill battle on my bike, mirrors my commitment as someone deeply entwined with our communities. I ride with pride, purpose, and a vision shared with my PODER familia and Bicis del Pueblo. Every moment on my bike underscores the interconnectedness of us all and the world we inhabit. I believe in the power of biking as a way of life, one that draws us closer, and as I push forward, I’m fueled by the strength and brilliance of our collective spirit.
