Promotoras are steadfast community ambassadors, igniting positive change and fostering empowerment among marginalized communities. We are dedicated to upholding immigrant rights, providing community education, and delivering essential health education.
Over the past three years, PODER’s Promotora team have been conducting in-person outreach in the Excelsior District. They can easily be identified by their warm smiles, approachable personalities, and famous green shirts.
Their constant presence on the corner of Mission St. and Norton St. has added a sense of security and trust in the neighborhood. Community folks know they can come to them for trusted resources and information without judgement. Working in collaboration with neighborhood CBOs and Immigrant Rights Advocacy Networks, our Promotoras are able to provide community members with information in-language on immigrant rights, workers’ rights, tenants’ rights, and essential wrap-around services.
Through our dedicated efforts, we build trust and establish meaningful connections with our immigrant neighbors. By providing essential resources and knowledge, we equip community members with the tools they need to make informed decisions that positively impact their lives.
We have had the privilege to support thousands of Latinx community members over the years with essential services and information because our Promotoras live, shop, and work in the communities they serve. They have built long-lasting relationships in the neighborhood. Community members know best what the needs are in their neighborhoods, and with PODER’s Promotoras at the helm of community outreach, we are able to take that input and put it towards building healthy and sustainable communities.
