Solidarity To Solutions: Rise For Climate • Solidaridad y Soluciones: Levantate Por El Clima

September 5, 2018 by ogrande

Be a part of the solution! Join us from September 8-14 in San Francisco and support climate justice solutions to the crises facing our communities. From climate change to racism, unfair housing practices to poverty and the breaking up of families, we need your voices to demand a change and ensure front-line community solutions are heard and listened to!

It Takes Roots
Solidarity to Solutions Week
(Sol2Sol) September 8-14 in San Francisco, CA was organized in parallel to the Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS) hosted by California Governor Jerry Brown. Starting on Saturday at the Rise For Climate, Jobs & Justice March we are joining tens of thousands illustrating how the most regenerative and life-affirming solutions to the climate crisis require not only decarbonization, but also strategies to decolonize, detoxify, demilitarize, de-gentrify and democratize our economies and our communities. Governor Jerry Brown’s market mechanisms will only lead to poverty for our people, the destruction of our air, water and lands, and the exploitation of our labor.

Join us for Saturday’s historic march
Rise For Climate, Jobs and Justice March in our hometown San Francisco. Click here on how to join our delegation

Nostros Somos Las Raices

Leventate Por El Clima y La Justicia

Support AB 523! Today!

September 13, 2017 by adiaz

PODER familia,

AB 523 (Reyes) is coming up to a vote in the Assembly. Although it passed the floor with 51-20-9, we heard today that the Bay Area Caucus is not going to support our bill.

We are looking for constituents in the Bay Area to call their legislators today to urge their YES vote.

Please help get our bill to the Governor’s desk by calling your legislators, tweet at them, and sharing with others in the Bay Area. A sample script is below.

Thank you.

Please contact:
Jim Wood @JimWoodAD2 – (916) 319-2002
Cecilia Aguiar-Curry @CeciliaAD4 – (916) 319-2004

Anna M. Caballero @AMCab2 – (916) 319-2030

Call script:

Hello, my name is _______ and I live in _______.
I am calling to urge Assemblymember ________ advance energy equity in California.
This bill is adopted from a recommendation by the California Energy Commission in their SB 350 Barriers report.
Although disadvantaged communities make up 25% of the state, the fund has only funded 14% of disadvantaged communities.
We know that frontline environmental justice communities are the most impacted by harmful fossil fuel production, and are not getting the full benefits of clean energy innovation for a healthier transition.
We need our legislators to stand strong with our environmental justice and low income communities by saying YES to AB 523 (Reyes).
Thank you for your time.
