With the warmth of over a hundred friends, family, and community members, our recent office warming at 255 Shotwell Street, was a celebration of community, resilience, and collective aspirations.

The evening kicked off with ceremony honoring the four directions, grounding us in the significance of our gathering and the space we were inaugurating. Alicia Briceño shared the compelling journey to naming Park In Chan Kaajal, delving into “Mi Pueblito” and its deep ties to our collective identity and vision for our neighborhoods. Celebrating our new office space as the fruit of her leadership, and many other everyday leaders, was a highlight of the night.
La velada comenzó con una ceremonia en honor a las cuatro direcciones, que nos hizo comprender la importancia de nuestra reunión y del espacio que estábamos inaugurando. Alicia Briceño compartió el apasionante viaje que supuso dar nombre a Park In Chan Kaajal, profundizando en “Mi Pueblito” y sus profundos vínculos con nuestra identidad colectiva y la visión de nuestros barrios. La celebración de nuestro nuevo espacio de oficinas, fruto de su liderazgo y del de muchos otros líderes cotidianos, fue uno de los momentos más destacados de la noche.
Fernando Martí from our board unveiled a breathtaking mural, a gift to the community symbolizing our shared dreams and struggles. The visual narrative of the mural, coupled with heartening speeches from Hummingbird Farm youth, underscored the theme “our roots are strong” weaving a tapestry of relationship between each other and our land.
Fernando Martí, de nuestra junta directiva, inauguró un impresionante mural, un regalo a la comunidad que simboliza nuestros sueños y luchas compartidos. La narrativa visual del mural, junto con los alentadores discursos de los jóvenes de la Granja Colibrí, subrayaron el tema “nuestras raíces son fuertes”, tejiendo un tapiz de relaciones entre unos y otros y con nuestra tierra.
The celebration included a screen printing station outdoors, and Bicis del Pueblo heightened our excitement with a raffle. The Bicis del Pueblo Bike Build Committee, were happy to raffle off a beautiful, meticulously built road bike as a fundraiser. Adding to the community and healing spirit, we shared plant medicine from Hummingbird Farm.
La celebración incluyó una estación de serigrafía al aire libre, y Bicis del Pueblo aumentó nuestra emoción con una rifa.
